The Center-piece of the evening was undoubtedly our iconic Red-top convertible Beauford. With its sweeping front wheel arches, polished chrome grille, and signature long bonnet, the Beauford is a masterpiece of vintage styling. While it offers the reliable performance of a modern vehicle, its silhouette is a direct homage to the grand tourers of the 1920s and 30s.
For this special event at Maidens Barn, the car served as a high-fashion backdrop for a professional photo-shoot. The vibrant red roof provided a striking contrast against the rustic, weathered textures of the barn’s 19th-century brickwork. Guests were invited to interact with the car, posing on the running boards and admiring the cream leather seats er and burr walnut dashboard - details that capture the style of the 1920's Jazz Age.
A Venue Steeped in History
Maidens Barn was the perfect stage for such an immersive experience. Dating back to 1806, the venue’s vaulted ceilings, ancient oak beams, and floor-to-ceiling windows create a space that feels both historic and elegantly modern. The 1920s theme breathed new life into the barn’s features with the flapper dresses and long black gloves and feathered headbands turning the courtyard and two barns into a scene straight out of the 1920's.

As the sun set over the Essex fields, the energy shifted from a sophisticated photo-shoot to a high-tempo party. Over 130 guests filled the Oak Barn, drawn to the dance floor by the infectious rhythms of a live band & breathtaking performance by the 7 Steps dance troupe. Specialising in the high-energy styles of the era, the troupe dazzled the crowd with:
- The Charleston: A display of fast kicking movements and the classic "swivel" footwork that defined the flapper generation.
- The Seven Steps: A rhythmic, structured dance involving precise walking sequences and turns that encouraged guest participation.
- Period Improvisation: Blending choreographed moves with the spontaneous spirit of 1920s "hot jazz".
The troupe didn't just perform; they led the guests in learning the basic steps, ensuring that everyone - from the flappers in their sequins to the gents in their braces - was part of the spectacle.
